The Charlton County Herald Gets a Fresh New Look! If you have driven down Main Street recently, you may have noticed something new at the Charlton County Herald — we’ve gotten a little facelift! Our building at 3927 Main Street has a fresh coat of paint, a new awning, and a renewed sense of pride in the place we are fortunate enough to call home. A big thank you goes to Gary Tippins Construction for our new awning and to Joseph “Peewee” Walker for giving the building a fresh new paint job. We appreciate the time, hard work and craftsmanship that went into helping us give the Herald a new look. And while our building may look a little different, our mission remains the same: to serve Charlton County and its people. While the Herald has been in several locations, it has been a part of this community for generations. We don’t just bring you the news — we are part of the community we cover. We report on our schools, churches, local government, sports, businesses, community events and the people who make Charlton County special. But did you know the Herald does much more than publish a newspaper? We’re more than just the news! Through our printing and advertising services, we can help local businesses, organizations, churches, schools and individuals with: * Business cards * Flyers and brochures * Rack cards * Banners * Yard signs * Promotional items * T-shirts and hats * Newspaper advertising * Website advertising * And much more! We are proud to be able to provide these services locally and to help other businesses promote themselves right here in Charlton County. Our facelift is also a small part of something bigger happening throughout Folkston — people are investing in Main Street. From new businesses and restaurants to longtime businesses continuing to improve their storefronts and serve the community, there are signs of renewed energy downtown. Charlton County’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan specifically calls for revitalizing the downtown areas of Folkston and Homeland, including beautification, façade improvements, pedestrian-friendly amenities and efforts to attract and support more downtown businesses. That kind of revitalization doesn’t happen overnight. It happens one building, one business and one investment at a time. And that’s something we believe is worth celebrating. At the Charlton County Herald, we are proud to be one of those businesses on Main Street. We are proud of our history, proud of our community and excited about the future of Folkston. So the next time you’re driving down Main Street, take a look around. There is a lot happening in our little town — and we are proud to be a part of it.
