David Allen Glisson (5/28/2026)
David Allen Glisson, 85, of Folkston, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 16, 1940, in Lecanto, Florida, to Warnell and Pernie Glisson. He was a member of the Folkston United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Henri Teresa Glisson; daughters Renee Morton (Jeff), Brenda Hooks (Dale), and Shauna Nazworth (Tony); grandchildren Scott Morton (Ellen), Charles Morton (Ann), Lexi Pollard (John), Beau Nazworth, and Anna Grace Hooks; great grandchildren Natalie, Caroline, and Emma Morton, and his loyal companion, Jack, along with extended family and many friends including his train-watching buddies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Bobby and Milton.
David was a man of many talents and hobbies. He operated large cranes and earth-moving equipment during his career and was a licensed pilot who flew airplanes and ultralights as a hobby. He was a master storyteller who could share tales and memories in great detail. David was also a skilled craftsman who was always willing to take on a project, no matter how challenging. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and papa who would do anything for his family. He will be missed.
David’s family would like to thank Dr. John Spellman, Dr. Suraj Rao, Dr. Roberto Rodriguez and the dedicated team at Memorial Health Heart & Vascular Institute for the care and compassion provided to David in his final days.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. John Boatwright and Rev. Robbie Paulk officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Morton, Dale Hooks, Tony Nazworth, Scott Morton, Charles Morton, Beau Nazworth, and John Pollard.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Folkston Methodist Church, 1463 3rd St, Folkston, GA 31537 or Grace Chapel Baptist Church, 58 Grace Chapel Road, Folkston, GA 31537.
