The spirit of the season filled the air on Thursday, December 11, as the community gathered for the annual CCHS Christmas Concert. Held at 6:30 p.m. in the CCHS Gym, the festive evening was hailed as a great success, showcasing the musical talents of CCHS students and bringing the school closer as the semester draws to a close. The students delivered a blend of contemporary and traditional Christmas selections, effectively spreading holiday cheer through their performances. The program included familiar favorites like Frosty the Snowman, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, and Merry Christmas Darling, alongside unique selections such as Christmas Island, Kris Kringle’s Bringing the Jingle, A Christmas Festival, Patapan, and A Cowboy Christmas. For some participants, the concert carried an extra layer of meaning. Drum Major and CCHS senior Kaylee Murray reflected on the evening, noting it was her eighth and final performance in the annual Christmas concert.”It was bittersweet, knowing it was my final performance,” Murray shared, adding that it was an honor to perform for CCHS. She also highlighted that one of her favorite aspects of being in the band was the opportunity to help teach and guide younger members. Band Director Curtis Hersey echoed the sentiment of transition. While Hersey stated that every concert is special, he acknowledged that this one carried added significance as it marked the final Christmas Concert in the current CCHS Gym. Future performances will be moving to the school’s new facility. Hersey expressed immense pride in his students’ dedication and talent. “Watching my students perform at such a high level is what makes me most proud as an educator,” he said. Organizers noted the concert successfully united the community, concluding the night with a shared sense of music and holiday spirit. The CCHS Band extended its appreciation to everyone who attended and supported the program, making the evening a memorable celebration.
