The Charlton County Indians opened up the 2025 football season with a 32-12 win over Brantley County. Omari Wilson rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns while Brandon Woolard scored twice as well.
The Charlton County dropped two of three falling to Brunswick, beating Atkinson County before losing to Lanier County. The Maidens are now 3-4 and 1-1 in region play.
The Bethune Middle School Braves opened their season in dramatic fashion scoring with six seconds remaining to beat Pierce County 14-8 last Wednesday in Blackshear.
Courtney Williams and the Minnesota Lynx keep rolling on. They beat the defending champion New York Liberty twice to go to 28-5 on the year and became the first team to clinch a playoff spot. In the two games Williams scored forty points, grabbed ten rebounds and handed out twelve assists. She scored a season high twenty six points in the second game.
While the playoffs are pretty much still not in the making the Atlanta Braves have started playing much better. They took two of three from the New York Mets before sweeping three straight from the Cleveland Guardians.
The Jacksonville Jaguars missed out on a golden oppurtunity to pick up their first preseason win but an interception while in field goal range made them settle for a 17-17 ties with the New Orleans Saints. The Jaguar starters played just one series with reserves playing the remainder of the game.
The Atlanta Falcons also lost as they fell to the Tennessee Titans 23-20 to fall to 0-2 heading into the final preseason games this weekend.
On the NASCAR Circuit in Richmond it was Austin Dillon holding off Alex Bowman to clinch a spot in the playoff round. It was his sixth career win.
At the BMW Championship in Baltimore Scottie Scheffler came from four strokes down entering the final round to overcome Robert McIntyre and win by two strokes as they head to the Fed Ex Championships in Atlanta this weekend.
