For more than five decades, Quick-Chic (now Quick Chick, Inc) has been more than just a place to grab a meal—it has been a Folkston tradition.
This year, the beloved restaurant is celebrating 52 years in business, marking more than half a century of serving its famous fried chicken, Southern hospitality, and familiar faces to generations of local families.
The celebration will take place all day on Saturday, July 25, with customers invited to stop by and help commemorate the milestone.
To thank the community for its unwavering support over the years, Quick-Chick, Inc. will be offering price rollbacks on all Snack Packs, dinners, and buckets throughout the day. Guests can also enjoy a variety of giveaways, including drinks, hats, T-shirts, and other promotional items, while supplies last.
Adding to the fun, the restaurant’s iconic chicken mascot will be dressed up and available for photos, giving families and longtime customers a chance to capture memories from the special occasion.
Quick-Chic first opened its doors on July 17, 1974, when Jerome and Lillian King purchased the restaurant after operating a restaurant in Waycross. The couple quickly built a reputation for serving some of the area’s best fried chicken alongside genuine Southern hospitality, earning the loyalty of customers from Folkston and beyond.
In 2015, their son, Paul King, purchased the business, ensuring that the family tradition would continue. Over the years, Paul and his wife, Charlotte, have dedicated themselves to preserving the values established by Jerome and Lillian—serving quality food, treating customers like family, and keeping the Quick-Chic legacy alive for future generations.
An earlier article celebrating the restaurant’s history noted that the Kings believed their success came not only from great food but from the people of Folkston.
“We’ve met wonderful people in this town,” Lillian King once said. “Everyone has been so good to always come back and stay with us over the years.”
As the years passed, the menu expanded, employees became like family, and generations of customers continued making Quick-Chick, Inc. a regular stop. In 2004, the restaurant celebrated its 30th anniversary with free meals, giveaways, and community festivities—an event many locals still remember.
Today, under Paul and Charlotte’s leadership, that tradition remains as strong as ever. While much has changed in Folkston over the past 52 years, Quick-Chick, Inc.’s commitment to quality food, friendly service, and community has never wavered. Their dedication has ensured that the restaurant continues to be a place where old friends gather, families share meals, and visitors experience the hometown hospitality that has defined Quick-Chic since 1974.
Whether it’s longtime customers who have been eating there for decades or first-time visitors stopping in for the famous fried chicken, Quick-Chick, Inc. remains one of Folkston’s most cherished local landmarks.
For the King family, the celebration is not just about looking back on 52 successful years—it’s about thanking the community whose continued support has made the Quick-Chick, Inc. story possible and looking ahead to many more years of serving Folkston.
