Johnnie Mae Singleton, 91, a native of Folkston, Ga. passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on October 28, 1934 to the late, Johnnie C. Singleton and Leola Duckson-Singleton in Charlton County. Ga. She was educated in what was then the school for the colored, Bethune. Johnnie was a faithful member of Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to fail her. She was primarily a homemaker, sitting and caring for different little ones in the family. She did hold a few jobs outside of her home such as Georgia Brown’s and the Aloha Inn in housekeeping.
Johnnie Mae was preceded in death by both parents, her son Anthony “T Man” Singleton and her aunt, Mother Lilus Taylor.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her daughter, Georgia (Lewis) Medlock, Folkston, Ga.; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; a special, close niece that was like her daughter, Toshia Hamilton that took care of her as well as the other family members that loved her dearly.
There will not be a wake/visitation on Friday, however remain will lie in state one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 416 Dixie Lake Rd., Folkston, Ga. 31537
Interment in Mt. Carmel Memorial Cemetery, Folkston, Ga.
Repast at Mt. New Home Church Social Hall.
