There’s a new reason to get excited about dining out in Homeland. This past Monday, Hobo’s 825 opened and they’re focusing on fast, healthy comfort food — no deep fryers included.
Robin Watson, the owner and culinary mind behind Hobo’s 825, brings with her over 40 years of restaurant experience. Formerly located in St. Mary’s, Watson decided to move her successful operation to Homeland after encouragement from her sons, who own Black Cypress Sound on Main Street in Folkston. “They’ve been pushing me to bring Hobo’s to Charlton County,” Watson said. “And now felt like the right time.”
The restaurant’s name — Hobo’s 825 — is a heartfelt tribute to her father, whose birthday falls on August 25. “He’s always supported me through everything,” Watson said. When she originally opened her first location, it was on August 25 and in honor of that legacy, the official Grand Opening celebration in Homeland will be held on August 25.
Watson promises that Hobo’s will offer something different — and healthier. You won’t find fried food on the menu. Instead, customers can expect home-cooked campfire-style meals with a modern twist. Creative dishes with names like The Johnny Tsunami, Parmageddon, and Reba Mac-N-Tater tease the menu’s flair and fun — though you’ll have to visit to discover what’s behind the names.
And for those with dietary preferences or restrictions, Hobo’s has you covered. The menu includes keto-friendly and gluten-free options, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
With Robin’s passion for food, her family’s local roots, and a menu full of comforting surprises, Hobo’s 825 is poised to become a favorite hometown gathering spot.
So whether you’re a longtime fan from St. Mary’s or a newcomer curious about comfort food with a healthy twist — make sure to stop by Hobo’s 825. This is one spot you won’t want to miss.
