Four seniors at Charlton County High School took an important step toward their futures during the school’s Future Georgia Educators Signing Day held on Wednesday, May 6, officially committing to careers in education and pledging to serve the next generation of learners. The signing ceremony recognized seniors Stephanie Greer, Harlee Lightsey, Jessica McCaugh, and Bennett Roberson for their dedication to pursuing careers in the field of education. Family members, friends, teachers, and school staff gathered to celebrate the students’ accomplishments and their decision to enter a profession that plays a vital role in shaping future generations. The event highlighted the growing importance of encouraging students to pursue careers in teaching and educational leadership. Each student signed letters of intent symbolizing their commitment to continuing their education and working toward careers in classrooms and schools across Georgia.
Stephanie Greer will be attending South Georgia State College, where she plans to major in secondary education. Harlee Lightsey will also attend South Georgia State College, majoring in early childhood education. Jessica McCaugh will attend Columbus State University, where she will major in early childhood education. Bennett Roberson plans to attend Georgia Southern University and major in history. School officials praised the four seniors for their leadership, character, and passion for helping others learn and grow. Educators in attendance noted that the teaching profession requires patience, dedication, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students. The Future Georgia Educators Signing Day ceremony served as both a celebration and an inspiration, recognizing students who have chosen a path centered on service, mentorship, and learning. As they prepare to graduate from Charlton County High School, Greer, Lightsey, McCaugh, and Roberson look ahead to continuing their education and eventually returning their knowledge and experience to future students.
