St. George Elementary was awarded the Literacy and Math Leader awards for the second year in a row. The Literacy Leader and Math Leader honors celebrate schools that demonstrate extraordinary student progress and proficiency. Schools are recognized for achievement, growth, or both on annual end-of-grade assessments. A total of 406 schools met the qualifications for recognition as 2024-2025 Literacy Leaders. A total of 479 schools met the qualifications for recognition as 2024-2025 Math Leaders.
SGES also received the John Hancock award banner. This award celebrates elementary, middle, and high schools that go above and beyond in teaching cursive writing – a skill that builds fine motor strength, enhances literacy, and allows students to engage meaningfully with historical texts in their original form.
Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, Superintendent Woods visited select schools identified as Literacy Leaders, Math Leaders, or both to recognize and congratulate them.
