Main Street in Folkston has a new gathering place as newlyweds Jacob and Dana Wyss celebrated the grand opening of their coffee shop, The Coffee Vault and More, on Jan. 30.
The husband-and-wife team, who live in Hilliard, Florida, were married in April and have combined their shared passion for business and community into this latest venture. Their goal is to create more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee — they hope to provide a welcoming hub where neighbors can connect, relax, and socialize.
“I have visited Folkston my entire life and have always been inspired by the vibe of this small town,” Dana Wyss said. “Our goal is to create a place separate from home and work where people can come together.”
The idea for the shop began to take shape once the couple found the right building and location on Main Street. “Once we found the location, we shared our thoughts and core values, and everything started coming together,” Dana said. “This has always been a personal passion of mine.” The couple was also drawn to Folkston after frequently visiting the former coffee shop at the corner location.
“We loved the spot and knew it was perfect for a coffee shop and more,” Dana explained.
Dana brings years of experience to the business, having previously owned Mimi’s Kitchen in Lake Park and Old School Diner in Fargo. She said those experiences helped prepare her for this new chapter. “I’ve been able to transfer existing knowledge, skills, and industry insights into this venture,” she said. “We focus on empathetic customer service, consistent product quality, and active hospitality.”
The Coffee Vault and More offers a variety of classic espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, and specialty beverages. Customers can also enjoy a selection of breakfast sandwiches and danishes designed to pair perfectly with their coffee. The couple also plans to introduce signature items that may become customer favorites.
Working together as newlyweds and business partners has been a unique experience for the couple. Jacob works full-time as a JEA lineman and often has long and extended hours, but remains involved behind the scenes. “We’ve always worked well together when we get the chance,” Dana said. “He’s in and out, but always supportive.”
Becoming part of the Folkston business community has special meaning for the Wysses. “It’s more than just operating a business,” Dana said. “It’s about building relationships, earning trust, and contributing to the growth of the community.”
They hope their shop will play a role in revitalizing downtown by creating a welcoming space and supporting other local businesses and suppliers. “Our goal is to stay locally owned and invested as we serve the community,” Dana said. “We want to be more than just a place of business.”
Like many small business owners, the couple faced challenges in preparing for opening day, including budgeting, adapting to changes, and creating a unique concept. Through it all, they relied on communication and shared values. Their advice to other couples considering going into business together is simple: nurture the relationship, define roles clearly, communicate often, and be prepared for stress.
Looking ahead, the Wysses hope to build strong ties to the community and establish a loyal customer base. They also plan to expand their menu, hours, and services in the future.
As they open their doors, the couple says they are grateful for the support they have already received. “We are proud to bring The Coffee Vault and More to the community,” Dana said. “Our goal is to offer great coffee and refreshments and create a place where people feel at home and want to return.”
The Coffee Vault and More is located at 3906 Main Street and is open Tuesday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and welcomes residents and visitors alike to stop in and experience their newest downtown destination.
