Main Street was glowing with holiday cheer on Saturday, November 29th, as the annual Christmas on Main Street celebration welcomed crowds for an evening packed with festive fun. Running from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the event kicked off the holiday season in style, offering family-friendly activities, vibrant decorations, and plenty of Christmas magic for all ages. Organizers invited residents and visitors to enjoy an evening “full of laughter, joy, and holiday spirit,” and the downtown district didn’t disappoint.

   Main Street transformed into a winter wonderland as food trucks lined the street, market vendors showcased seasonal goods, and the sound of Christmas music filled the air. Guests enjoyed holiday displays, sweet treats, and a cheerful Christmas theme woven throughout the event. The highlight of the night was the “Light It Up” parade, which drew big smiles as decorated golf carts, cars, and trucks lit up the roadway—topped off, of course, with an appearance from Santa Claus himself. The celebration also included the announcement of the Pink Friday Raffle winner, with Anita Allen of Black River BBQ taking home the prize.

   Charlton County Okefenokee Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Melodey Martindale said the purpose of hosting Christmas on Main Street is to give back to the community during the holiday season while supporting local businesses. She shared that her favorite moment each year is watching children’s faces light up as the glowing parade entries roll by. The festive music playing from many of the golf carts added to the joyful, welcoming atmosphere. With its mix of tradition, charm, and community pride, the 2025 Christmas on Main Street once again proved to be a beloved highlight of the season—bringing neighbors together and setting a merry tone for the

holidays ahead.
