Kloan Petty Bass- 55 of Hahira, Georgia passed on August 6, 2025, at her residence. Mrs. Bass was born in Sylvester, Georgia on January 8, 1970, to parents Roy Kline Petty and Linda Huggins Petty.
Kloan was a dedicated wife and mother, an amazing daughter, a loving sister, and a proud, adored Grammie. She was also a wonderful and cherished aunt. Kloan found joy in music, dancing, and spending time with her family—especially on trips to the Gulf, boating, and relaxing on the beach. She loved watching college football, NASCAR, and cooking shows.
She never met a stranger and left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She loved to laugh and was a fighter who never let a bad day keep her down.
Kloan earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Columbus State and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Middle Georgia. She served with passion and dedication as a registered nurse at HealthSouth and South Georgia Medical Center.
Kloan is preceded in death by her father, Roy Kline Petty; sister, Alonda Petty-Daniel; maternal grandparents, Juanita Huggins Tomlinson, Alvin Alonzo Huggins and Aldine Tomlinson; paternal grandparents, Royal and Caroline Petty; and honorary grandparents, Ransom and Kitty Bass.
She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-five years, Mike Bass; her daughters, Kaitlyn Bass of Hahira, Georgia, and Alyson Carreno (Tony) of Reston, Virginia; her beloved granddaughter, Noelle Carreno; her mother, Linda Huggins Petty of Valdosta, Georgia; her brother, Kline Petty, Jr. (Renee) of Woodstock, Georgia; her sister, Mitzi Hutcheson (Brad) of Cumming, Georgia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of life service was held at 4:00pm, Friday, August 8, 2025, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Family received friends one hour prior to the service, from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family atwww.musicfuneralservices.com . Kline Petty, 82, of Valdosta, died on Friday, August 1, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on April 27, 1943, in Folkston, GA to the late Royal & Caroline Johnson Petty. Kline grew up in Folkston and graduated from Charlton County High School in 1961. Determined to further his education, he worked several jobs throughout his college years, initially attending Middle Georgia College and later transferring to the Georgia Institute of Technology where he achieved a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1966. He began his career with Georgia Power Company shortly after graduation and dedicated 35 years to the organization, retiring in 2002 as the South Region Power Delivery manager in Valdosta. In retirement, Kline remained active with the Georgia Power Company Ambassadors and Mended Hearts of Valdosta continuing to serve his community. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and family and also liked watching tournaments on television. More than anything, Kline was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cherished time spent with his loved ones. He was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Linda H. Petty of Valdosta, three children and their spouses, Kloan & Mike Bass of Hahira, Kline & Renee Petty of Woodstock, Mitzi & Brad Hutcheson of Cumming; nine grandchildren, Brandon (& Sarah) Petty of Cumming, Lyl (& Logan) Taylor of Canton, Sierra Petty of Woodstock, Kaitlyn Bass of Hahira, Alyson (& Tony) Carreno of Virginia, Briggs (& Anna) Hutcheson of Oakwood, Bryce Hutcheson, Bradley Hutcheson, Brody Hutcheson, all of Cumming. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Grayson Petty, Everleigh Taylor, Noelle Carreno, three brothers, Clayton Petty, Rod Petty and Jimmy (& Ann) Petty, all of Folkston and a sister, Ruby (& Everette) Sikes, also of Folkston, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alonda Petty Daniel, and three brothers, Tom Petty, Arthur Petty and Walter Petty.
The funeral for Mr. Petty was held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Robby Foster will officiate. Burial followed at Pineview Cemetery in Folkston, GA at 3:00 pm following the service. The family received friends from 5 until 7 pm at the funeral home on Monday, August 4, 2025.
