A significant law enforcement presence surrounded Jimmy’s Pawn Shop on U.S. Highway 1 in Folkston on Sunday, March 29, as officers and investigators remained on the scene for much of the day.
According to neighbors in the area, officers with the Folkston Police Department arrived at approximately 10:00 a.m., quickly filling the area with multiple patrol units and emergency response vehicles. Witnesses also reported seeing the coroner’s vehicle arrive later in the day.
Investigators were observed examining two vehicles parked near the business — a silver Toyota truck and a silver Jeep — while crime scene tape blocked off portions of the property for several hours. The tape was removed at approximately 5:00 p.m.
As of Monday afternoon, official information surrounding the investigation remained limited.
Although community members and social media posts circulated claims that shots may have been fired and that the incident may have involved a homicide or suicide, those details have not been officially confirmed. Officers at the scene declined to comment on the nature of the investigation.
At press time, neither the Folkston Police Department nor the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) had released an official statement confirming what occurred.
