Audrey Jean Prescott Stokes (8/19/2026)
Audrey Jean Prescott Stokes, 88, of Melbourne, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026. She was born in Folkston, Georgia on July 20, 1938, to the late Mersal Roosevelt Prescott and Sybil Juanita “Pete” (Gay) Prescott.
Jean was a 1956 graduate of Charlton County High School. She had the honor of being chosen as the Charlton County Centennial Queen in 1954. She owned and operated the Folkston Skating Rink for many years and considered it her ministry. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church of Folkston.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband: Noah Herschel Stokes, Jr; and brother: Freddie Prescott.
She is survived by her son: Noah (Stokey) H. Stokes, III (Ruth); daughter: Stacey Stokes Johnson. She was a precious “Mama Jean” to her beloved grandchildren: Leah Ross, Jake Stokes (Snowy), Sarah Walker (Preston), Luke Johnson, Audrey Johnson, and Daniel Johnson; great-grandchildren: Walker Ross and Sam Stokes; brother: Jack Prescott (Ethel); and sister-in-law: Betty Jo Stokes Cilsick; beloved nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Folkston at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Dr. Randy Jacoby officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
