The 10-under girls of the Charlton County Recreation Department put up a valiant effort and came up just short of the GRPA District 2 title last Saturday in Alma.
They started the tournament last Tuesday and easily disposed of Long County by a 43-0 score. Then on Friday, they would knock off Pearson by a 36-28 score. In the championship game, the Charlton squad lost the lead late and was unable to come back and fell to Pierce County by a 31-30 score.
Members of the team were Rihanna Battle, Christiona Farmer, Keenya Gordon, Trenity Hamilton, Sincere Humphries, Treanna Irving, A’Layna Knight, Makayla Lambert, Ryanna Mitchell, and Courtney Ward. Coaches for the team were Quin Reed and Shay Dasher.
