The world of sports is slowly trying to make a comeback with some of the shelter in place restrictions being lifted.

However, the Charlton County Recreation Department has made the tough decision to cancel youth baseball and softball season. Refunds are being processed and will be mailed out as soon as possible.

The NFL conducted its draft last weekend and as expected LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was the top pick of the draft as he was chosen by the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had 12 selections in the draft and was highlighted by two first round picks. The Jaguars took Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson with the ninth pick and then selected LSU outside linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson with the 12th pick.

The Atlanta Falcons' draft was led off by Clemson defensive back A.J. Terrell taken in the first round while Auburn defensive lineman Marlon Davidson was their second round selection.

The Georgia Bulldogs had seven players chosen in the draft with offensive linemen Andrew Thomas going fourth overall to the New York Giants and Isaiah Wilson selected 29th by the Tennessee Titans. Running back D'Andre Swift was the third pick of the second round by the Detroit Lions, while quarterback Jake Fromm fell to the fifth round and was picked by the Buffalo Bills.

The Florida Gators also had seven selections in the draft. In addition to Henderson going to the Jaguars, the Gators had wide receiver Van Jefferson picked up in the second round by the Los Angeles Rams.

The NBA is reopening practice facilities on Friday in areas that are loosening restrictions due to the coronavirus. This will allow players in those areas to hold voluntary workouts in a professional and safe environment. This isn't a timetable for the restart of the season as Commissioner Adam Silver and the owners still believe they need more time on whether when or how they could possibly resume the season.

While it's not officially PGA golf there seems to be in the works a match involving Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady to help raise money for the COVID-19 pandemic. Woods would be paired with Manning while Mickelson and Brady would be partners. Sources have said the match will probably take place in Florida around the Memorial Day weekend.

NASCAR is working with the governor of North Carolina in hopes of running the Coca Cola 600 on May 24. The race is a Memorial Day tradition and would be run without spectators. The governors of Florida and Texas have both already stated that NASCAR is welcome to run races in their states without fans in attendance.
