Congratulations to the 12-under girls of the Charlton County Recreation Department for winning the GRPA Class C State Tournament last weekend in Baxley. For some members of the team it was their second title in two years as they claimed the 10-under championship a year ago.

The Indian baseball team used some great pitching performances to get back to their winning ways last week after sweeping a three game series against Clinch County.

Reinhardt University won their fourth game of the spring season after blasting Union College 57-16. Former Indian Teon Burroughs was in on one tackle for the Eagles.

Two other former Indian football players began their spring season Saturday. Marcell Maxwell and Travon Greene both made their collegiate debut for Defiance College and both were credited with a tackle on defense.

Lauran Allbritton hit her second home run of the season last week tying another former Maiden, Savannah Pollock for the team lead at Wesleyan College. Pollock continues to lead the team in batting.

Conference basketball tournaments are underway with the winners getting the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Second ranked Michigan dropped two of three games to finish out the regular season.

South Carolina claimed the SEC Women's basketball tournament Sunday by defeating Georgia in the finals. Georgia had upset top seeded Texas A&M in the semifinals.

Bryson DeChambeau held off Lee Westwood by one stroke to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando. DeChambeau made a five foot par putt on the final hole to clinch the victory.

Kyle Larson won his first race of the NASCAR Cup Series this season at the Las Vegas Speedway beating out runner-up Brad Keselowski.
