It's time for some basketball action at Charlton County High School. The Indians and Maidens opened up their season on Monday against Hilliard and will play host to Brantley County on Friday night before hitting the road on Saturday to play Echols County.

   The Bethune Middle School teams will return to action after the Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, December 1 against McIntosh County Middle School.

Courtney Williams and her Galatasaray squad in Turkey continue to win, claiming an 85-61 win. Williams scored 13 points in the game in which she played limited minutes due to the score of the game.

 Chris Milton and the Tennessee Titans took over sole possession of the AFC South after beating the Indianapolis Colts 45-26. Both teams entered the game with 7-3 records, but the Titans now sit atop the division alone.

The Georgia Bulldogs improved to 6-2 on the season after blasting South Carolina 45-16. The Dawgs controlled the game on the ground rushing for 332 yards.

  Florida is now 7-1 on the year after knocking off Kentucky 34-10. Tight end Kyle Pitts returned to action after missing two games and caught three touchdown passes.

 The top teams in the country continued to win with top ranked Alabama blasting Auburn 42-13, second ranked Notre Dame beating North Carolina 31-17, and third ranked Clemson ran roughshod over Pittsburgh 52-17. Fourth ranked Ohio State had their game against Illinois canceled due to Covid-19 positive tests.

 The Jacksonville Jaguars battled hard, but a late two point conversion failed leading to a 27-25 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The loss drops the Jaguars to 1-10 on the season. After suffering their tenth straight loss the Jaguars fired general manager Dave Caldwell.

 Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons bounced back from a week ago to beat the Las Vegas Raiders 43-6. The Falcons defense created five turnovers to help improve their record to 4-7.

 In college basketball top ranked Gonzaga opened the year by beating sixth ranked Kansas and Auburn and second ranked Baylor won their lone game. But third ranked Villanova was upset by Virginia Tech and fourth ranked Virginia was stunned by San Francisco. Also getting upset was tenth ranked Kentucky who was beaten by Richmond.

The Atlanta Braves have made a couple of off-season free agent signings in hopes to stabilize the pitching staff. First they signed left hander Drew Smyly, who pitched for San Francisco last season. Then they added right handed veteran Charlie Morton from the Tampa Bay Rays.
