Congratulations to the Charlton County Maidens slow pitch softball team for qualifying for the state tournament after winning two of three games in last week’s sectional tournament.
They are one of just eight teams remaining in the state still playing and the lone Class A school in the state tourney.
The Charlton County baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a 18-9 record after splitting four games in the final week. The Tribe will open the state playoffs on the road this Wednesday according the GHSA playoff brackets.

The Atlanta Braves have a 10-10 record after winning just one of five games entering Sunday night’s game against the Cleveland Indians. The one win was one to remember as the Braves scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth to edge Cleveland, 8-7.
The NFL Draft begins this Thursday in Nashville with the Arizona Cardinals holding the first overall pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the seventh pick in the draft and maybe they can find their quarterback of the future.
The Jacksonville Sharks evened their record at 1-1 after knocking off the Columbus Lions on the road by a 48-24 score. The Sharks get an early bye week then return to action on the road when they face the Massachusetts Pirates on May 4.
