The Charlton County Indians saw their season come to a close last week after losing on Tuesday to Brooks County and then falling short in a comeback bid against Atkinson County on Saturday leaving them with a 4-6 mark for the season.
With football over, the basketball team, will be making their season debut. The original opening game against McIntosh County Academy has been postponed due to their making the football playoffs, but the Maidens and Indians will open up at home on November 30 against Hilliard.
The Bethune Middle School teams will return to action after the Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, December 1 against McIntosh County Middle School.
Courtney Williams and her Galatasaray squad in Turkey won their eighth game in a row last week. Williams scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out eight assists in their comfortable 80-62 win.
Chris Milton and the Tennessee Titans improved to 7-3 on the season after beating the Baltimore Ravens 30-24 in overtime. The Titans are currently on top of the standings in the AFC South Division.
The Georgia Bulldogs started USC transfer quarterback J.T. Daniels against Mississippi State and he promptly threw for 401 yards and four touchdowns leading the Bulldogs to a 31-24 win.
Florida struggled a little against Vanderbilt, but in the end it would be the Gators taking a 38-17 win over the Commodores.
Top-ranked Alabama had no problem in beating Kentucky 63-3, but third-ranked Ohio State had to hold on to beat Indiana, 42-35. Seventh-ranked Cincinnati continues to be the elite of the Group of five schools as they improved to 7-0 after edging Central Florida, 36-33.
The Jacksonville Jaguars fell to 1-9 on the season after failing to reach the end zone in their 27-3 loss to the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons fell to 3-7 after losing to the New Orleans Saints 24-9. The Saints were playing without starting quarterback Drew Brees, but it didn't seem to matter.
The NBA held their player draft last week and the University of Georgia's Anthony Edwards was the first overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves. James Wiseman, a 7'1” center from Memphis was taken second by the Golden State Warriors.
