Congratulations to the Bethune Middle School Braves for finishing an undefeated season with a 32-0 win over Callahan Middle School. The Braves finished up with a 5-0 record with wins over Callahan, University Christian, Camden, St. Marys, and Fernandina Beach.

The Charlton County Maidens softball team gave fourth-ranked Lanier County all they could handle, but in the end it would be the Lady Bulldogs advancing to the Elite Eight. Great job by the Maidens and the coaching staff.

The struggles of the Indian football squad continued as they dropped a 49-0 decision to Wilcox County last Friday. This week they host Telfair County in a Homecoming Game affair.

The Georgia Bulldogs plodded through a soaking performance during Tropical Storm Nestor and won, 21-0, over Kentucky Saturday night in Athens. D'Andre Swift ran for 179 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

The Florida Gators overcame a fourth quarter deficit to beat South Carolina, 38-27. Georgia and Florida will both have this week off before facing off against each other on November 2 in Jacksonville. The winner of the game will be in the driver's seat to win the SEC East.

Sixth-ranked Wisconsin fell from the ranks of the unbeaten Saturday when they were stunned by Illinois, 24-23. Illinois rallied from a 20-7 deficit and kicked a field goal on the game's final play to seal the upset.

The World Series is set now with the Washington Nationals facing the Houston Astros. The Nationals swept the St. Louis Cardinals in four games to win the National League pennant, while the Astros eliminated the New York Yankees in six games to claim the American League's spot in the series. The first game is scheduled to be played Tuesday in Houston.

The Jacksonville Jaguars got 131 rushing yards from Leonard Fournette, and Gardner Minshew tossed a touchdown pass to lead them past the winless Cincinnati Bengals. The Jaguars defense picked off three passes returning one for a touchdown to help them improve to 3-4 on the season.

The wheels have completely fallen off for the Atlanta Falcons as they lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 37-10.  The Falcons are now 1-6 on the season.  

Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talledega last Monday after being postponed due to rain. This week at the Kansas Speedway, Denny Hamlin held off Chase Elliott on the second restart to advance to the next round of the NASCAR playoffs. The eight drivers to advance to the next round are Hamlin, Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex, Jr., Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, Elliott, and Blaney.
