Congratulations to Connor Nelson and Tristan Herring for being selected to play for the Southeast Georgia team in the Georgia Dugout Club's Senior All State Games that were played at Mercer University last Saturday. 

The Charlton County Recreation Department's All Star teams will begin play in the district tournament this Friday, with games being played in Alma, Baxley, and Hazlehurst.

L.J. Talley batted .353 last week for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He hit his third home run of the year and drove in five runs along with walking five times. Talley is also showing his versatility on defense having played third base, second base, first base and has also been the team's designated hitter.

Courtney Williams scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the Atlanta Dreams' two games against the Minnesota Lynx.

Jack Gowen saw his season with the Georgia Bulldogs come to a close when they weren't selected to be part of the NCAA Tournament. Gowen will now wait for the Major League Baseball Draft this weekend to see if he gets selected. If so, he will have to make the decision to go pro or return to Georgia for another season.

Georgia's softball season ended after two games at the Women's College World Series. Georgia fell by a run to Oklahoma State before getting run ruled by top ranked Oklahoma. Then on Sunday Lu Harris-Champer announced her retirement after 25 years of coaching college softball.

The Atlanta Braves remain 2.5 games out of first place in the National League East. The Braves split four games with the Washington Nationals before taking two of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Atlanta Hawks won their opening round playoff series against the New York Knicks and won the opener of their second round series against the top seeded Philadelphia 76er's.

On the PGA Tour, Jon Rahm led the Memorial Tournament by six strokes at the end of the third round. But he was informed he had tested positive for Covid and forced to withdraw. That opened up the door for Patrick Cantley and Collin Marikawa to battle it out to the end. Cantley would come out on top after one hole of a sudden death playoff.

At the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Sonoma Raceway, Kyle Larson held off Chase Elliott to pick up his third win of the season.
