The Charlton County Maidens might have seen their season come to a close last week, but their hard work throughout the season didn’t go unrecognized as the All Region 2-A Team was released last week with the Maidens being represented well.

Senior Samantha Baxter was named the Region 2-A Defensive Player of the year. From her shortstop position Baxter handled 79 of 87 chances and helped turn six double plays. She was also potent with her bat batting .450 while scoring 26 runs while driving in 25 more.

Named to the first team would be the battery of sophomore pitcher, Emma Woolard, and freshman catcher, Gabby Tillis. Woolard pitched 130 innings and struck out 135 batters while recording a 2.36 earned run average. At the plate she would help her cause by batting .290 and driving in 14 runs. Tillis would end the season with a team high .456 average while doing a great job behind the plate.

Sophomore third baseman, Javonna Dykes, was named to the second team after batting .397 and scoring a team high 30 runs and 22 stolen bases.

Named as honorable mention were senior first baseman Jalees Murphy, junior outfielder Tiffany Rivera, and junior outfielder Brooke Spivey. Murphy batted .271 while driving in 12 runs while Rivera batted .365 and scored 20 runs. Spivey finished the season batting .339 while driving in 23 runs and scoring 19 more.

Congratulations on a fine season and well deserved honors.
