Maidens drop pair to Bacon and Lanier

ANDIA WILLIAMS (30) SAFE ON FIRST

The Charlton County Maidens saw their record drop to 8-9 on the season and 8-2 in Region 2-A play after falling to Bacon County and Lanier County last week. The Maidens have clinched the second seed in the region and have three non-region games left before the playoffs begin. Charlton hosted Camden County on Monday and will play Camden again on Wednesday in Kingsland before wrapping the regular season at home Thursday against Brunswick. Thursday's game will also be Senior Night.

Against Bacon County on Monday, the Maidens fell behind 3-0 going to the bottom of the fifth before starting a two out rally. Kennedy Taylor was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Christiona Farmer. Charli Woolard followed with an RBI single to cut the Bacon lead to 3-2.  But that would be as close as the Maidens would get as Bacon scored three more times in the sixth and twice in the seventh to take an 8-2 win.  Gabby Tillis had two hits to lead the Maidens while Farmer and Woolard both had one hit.
