The Georgia High School Association met last week and finalized the new regions for the 2020-22 school years. They had previously voted to totally separate the public and private schools in Class A, so there will now be eight public and eight private school regions in Class A. They also have voted to do away with the power rankings system that had been used to determine playoff spots. So, beginning next school year the top four teams in each region will qualify for the state playoffs.
Region 2-A, the region that Charlton County participates in, will now have just seven schools in it. After losing Telfair County and Wilcox County to another region, the Indians and Maidens will compete against Atkinson County, Clinch County, Echols County, Irwin County, Lanier County, and Turner County.
