The Bethune Middle School Braves scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to steal away a win from Camden Middle School last Tuesday at home. The Braves are now 7-3 on the year.
The Cougars would open up a 3-0 lead before the Braves could score in the bottom of the third inning. Bethune loaded the bases with three walks and Jarvis Wright would race home on a passed ball to cut the lead to 3-1.
In the fifth inning, the Braves would take advantage of three walks, an error and two passed balls to score three times and take a, 4-3, lead.
But Camden bounced back, scoring twice in the top of the sixth to regain the lead at 5-4.
It would stay that way until the bottom of the seventh when Jaylen Lilley reached on a one-out error.
Then with two outs, Ian Vickers reached on an error sending Lilley to third.
A passed ball tied the game and Eli Hobbs came through with a single scoring Vickers with the winning run.
The Braves would only get hits by Hobbs and Cole Crawford, but they took advantage of 14 walks by Camden pitchers. Conner Lloyd picked up the win in relief by shutting down the Cougars for the final 1.1 innings.
