The Bethune Middle School Maidens basketball team improved their record to 5-0 on the season after picking up wins over McIntosh County Middle School and Arthur Williams Middle School.

   Last Tuesday they hosted McIntosh and had no problems in picking up the win. They would score early and often as they took a 31-4 lead into the half. The score would continue to grow as they ended up winning by a 48-6 margin.

  Christiona Farmer led the way with 19 points. Mahogany Steele added eight points, while Sincere Humphries and Trenity Hamilton both scored six points. Also getting into the scoring column were Rihanna Battle with five points, and Keenya Gordon and Kaitlyn Robinson both scoring two points.

    Then on Wednesday the Maidens would play at home again against Arthur Williams from Jesup. After a close first quarter in which Bethune led 9-6 the Maidens expanded the lead to 18-10 at the break. Bethune would shut out their opponents in the third quarter to go up 23-10. They would find their offensive groove in the fourth quarter and go on to win 38-18.

  Farmer and Battle both scored 12 points to lead Bethune. Makayla Lambert and Steele both scored four points, Robinson added three points, Humphries scored two points and Hamilton added one point.
