The Bethune Middle School Maidens kept their record unblemished after picking up a pair of wins over St. Marys Middle School and Joshua Christian out of Jacksonville. The Braves lost their game against St. Marys, but pulled out a close win over the visitors from Florida.

The Maidens jumped out to a 20-1 halftime lead against St. Marys and then cruised to a 30-10 win. Seven different Maidens would score, with Christiona Farmer leading the way with 12 points while Sincere Humphries scored six and Makayla Lambert added five points.

Against Joshua Christian, the Maidens faced what was their toughest competition thus far this season. After taking a six point advantage into the break, the Maidens would slowly increase the lead on the way to a 38-22 win. Rihanna Battle would lead a balanced scoring attack with 11 points. Trenity Hamilton scored nine points and Farmer and Lambert each scored eight points.

For the Braves, they played St. Marys close for a half, as they trailed just 11-9, but in the second half the Bobcats would pull away for a 46-28 win. Omari Wilson and Elijah Pinkney both scored eight points while Trent Hamilton added six points.

The Braves would jump out quick on Joshua Christian and hold a 15-3 lead after one quarter. They continued to hold a double-digit lead throughout until the fourth quarter when Joshua Christian started making a lot of three point baskets. But the Braves held on and win 41-35. Wilson led with 11 points, while Cameron Edwards scored seven and A.J. Glover added six points.

Both teams will be off until January 10, when they make the return trip to Jacksonville to face Joshua Christian.
