The Bethune Middle School Maidens opened up their basketball season last Wednesday at home against Martha Puckett Middle School from Jesup. Using a starting lineup consisting of four sixth graders and one seventh grader, the Maidens opened up an 11-7 first quarter lead before expanding it out to 22-14 at the half. The lead would continue to grow in the second half as the Maidens would win by a 36-25 score.

Christiona Farmer led Bethune with 14 points and Rihanna Battle scored 11. Trenity Hamilton chipped in six points while Sincere Humphries and Makaylah Lambert both scored two points.

The Braves weren't so fortunate as they lost a bunch of talent from last year. Martha Puckett would win 48-15 with Isaiah Mimbs leading Bethune with six points. Omari Wilson scored four points, Trevan Cobb three points and Eli Hobbs added two points.
