Due to the recent passing of Georgia’s new anti-abortion law, women’s rights have become a hot topic in the media.  In light of the urgency surrounding this matter, I would like to encourage you to support S. 1071, “The Keeping Girls in School Act of 2019,” introduced by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.

Across the world, 130 million girls are not enrolled in school. Specifically, girls ages 10 to 19 are three times more likely than boys to be kept out of school, particularly in countries affected by conflict. When girls reach adolescence, they are at a high risk of dropping out due to forced marriage, pregnancy, or family pressure. As a member of the Borgen Project, an organization that fights global poverty, I believe that the Keeping Girls in School Act will empower girls around the world by increasing their educational opportunities and economic security.

Please do all you can to help pass this legislation. Young girls everywhere deserve to be given the same opportunities that we are so fortunate to have here in America.
