Willie Maxwell, 69, of Folkston, passed away on July 22, 2021 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 14, 1952 to the late, Tommy Lee and Louise E. Dasher-Maxwell, Sr. in Charlton County, (Traders Hill).
He was educated in Mary Bethune School and entered into the Job Corps in Utah. He was a former employee of Union Camp, Gilman Paper Mill and he also worked in the Timber Industry.
He was loved by many and was always helpful to others. Will had a genuine love for his children and grandchildren. The one thing that everyone agreed to was that he was known for his love of dancing. Will was a “dancing machine “ even after his unfortunate amputation. Will loved life and lived it to the fullest.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gregory A. Maxwell; his grandson, Terrance T. Whitley; and his sisters, Mary Maxwell and Gerlean Walker.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Wanda Maxwell, Folkston, Tameka Mitchell, Kingsland, GA, Cartena Maxwell, Folkston, and a step daughter, Kesha Thomas of Brunswick, GA; three brothers, Tommy Lee, Jimmy (Gwen) and James (Diane) Maxwell all of Folkston; two sisters, Ruby (David) Monroe and Barbara (Martin) Monroe both of Folkston; an aunt, Doretha Dasher, Folkston; close friends, Dwight Dasher, Lola Ingram and Anthony Beasley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will not be a wake/visitation. A viewing will be held one hour prior to graveside services.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Repast will be held at Traders Hill Recreation Pavillon.
