Tommy Lee Walker, 79, passed away on March 18, 2023. Tommy was born on October 14, 1943 to the late Robert Walker, Sr. and Inez Walker of Toledo, GA.
He received his formal education in the public school system of Charlton County. Afterwards, he entered into the construction field, and later joined employment with Hercules Corp. where he retired; soon after he began his private contracting business in stumping, Walker Contractor. He had a passion for carpentry and construction, and has left a mark on many homes and families throughout the Southeast. His hobbies included, cooking, carpentry and construction, fishing, biking, Washington Commanders Football, crossword puzzles, and enjoying his grandchildren.
Tommy was preceded in death by both parents, Robert and Inez; brothers, Thomas Walker, Sr., Authur Walker, L.C. Walker, and Jerry Walker; and sisters: Rebecca Reed and Lonnie Williams.
Left to cherish and treasure his memories, his wife, Annette Walker; sons, Corey (Alicia), Orlando, FL and Michael, Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Katrina (John Lee), Jacksonville, FL, Shondy (Jayvelle), Irmo, SC, Lanesha (Mark), Atlanta, GA, and Ashley, Kingsland, GA; siblings, Robert (Ruby), Jacksonville, FL, Melvin (Hope), Kingsland, GA, Pearl, Folkston; In-Laws, Solomon and Anna Overstreet, Sr., Folkston;grandchildren, Jessika, Shanae, John Jr., Joshua, Jayla, Jayden, Taylor, Zoe, Jace, and Lauryn; great-grandchildren, Kendrick, De’Shawn, and Chanel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowful friends.
There will not be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to services on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 116 6th Street, Folkston.
Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Folkston.
Repast will be held at St. Matthews Social Hall following interment.
