Robert  Edwards, Jr.

    Mr. Robert Edwards Jr. was born April 7, 1955 in Folkston to the late Dorothy Williams Edwards and Robert Edwards Sr. He received his formal education from the public schools of Folkston.

He was employed at Goldkist for many years. Robert also, taking after his late father, had a passion for planting and gardening, where he planted trees for years until his illness.

Robert, affectionately known as “Coolie”, departed this life on Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL after an extended illness. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Wendell C. Chambers; his wife, Jeannette Edwards; two brothers, Ronald Q. Edwards and Arthur Lee Edwards; and two sisters, Ophia Edwards and Dorothy G. Edwards. 

Those left to cherish his memory include stepdaughter, Keisha (David) Jones, of Hilliard; stepmother, Julia Mae Edwards, of Folkston; siblings; Donald (Rose) Williams Sr., of Folkston; Jacqueline Williams, of Brunswick, Norma Jean (Rock) Sims, of Columbia, SC, Ervin (Opal) Edwards, Calvin D. Edwards, Alvin L. Edwards, all of Folkston, Richard Edwards, Wilbur ( Robin) Edwards, and Caroline Edwards, all of Jacksonville; stepbrothers, Bernell (Phyllis) Sims, Reginald Sims, Stanley (Lisa) Sims, all of Folkston, and Fredrick (Eva) Sims, of Tampa, FL.; a maternal aunt, Eliza Mae West, of San Antonio, TX.; paternal aunt, Roberta Battle, of West Virginia; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends to him, Frances Murrhee, Ann Murrhee, and Herman Jones.    

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Holiness Church, Folkston, with Pastor Terrance Pender officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.  

J.E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, of Jacksonville, is in charge of the arrangements.
