Following a battle with cancer, Mary Sue Newman, 78, of Callahan, passed away June 1, 2019. She was born May 24, 1941, in Harrisonburg, VA. While living in Harrisonburg, Mary Sue was a beautician and still has family there. She became a resident of Florida in 1975 and married her sweetheart, Franklin, August 14, 1976.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fargo and Ruth Nutter, and a step-son, John Randall Newman.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Franklin L. Newman; two sons, Jeff Mowbray and Mike Mowbray; four step-children; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as other family and friends. Her closest friends were Janice Barnhart and Louise (Rachel Ray) Lee.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 4, at Buford Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Curtis Harrington officiating. The family received friends an hour prior to the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were the men of the church.
