Margaret Melvina Blackshear was born July 8, 1949 to the late Helen Blackshear and Robert D. Mitchell in Folkston.

She was educated in the public school system of Charlton County and graduated in the Class of 1968. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and being around family. Her hobbies included traveling, going to church, and attending special events. Margaret was employed for 30 years at Stevenson Enterprise (sewing factory) until the company closed. She retired from FAA Air Traffic Control Center in 2014. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and served diligently on the usher board until her health declined.

On January 26, 2019, God called Margaret from her labor to her reward. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Helen Blackshear and Robert D. Mitchell; four sisters, Helen Bailey, Dorothy Shellman, Myrtist McCrae, Dolly Marie Blackshear; and three brothers, Jerome Blackshear, Tony Blackshear, and Michael Blackshear.

She leaves to mourn her passing four children, Felix Blackshear, Lisa (Brian) Rauls, Feodosher Parrish, Carolyn Michelle (Paul) Morrison; six grandchildren, Tony (Melissa) Edwards, Crystal (Ryan) Milton, Destiny Hannan, Briana Rauls, and Keziah and Chione’ Blackshear; six great-grands, Joshua, Morgan, Makayla, King, Stetson, and Dakota; her step-father, Jerome Martin; siblings, Morris Blackshear, Denise (Johnny) Nixon, Michelle (Norris) Woods, Sam (Theowana) Martin, Harry (Lara) Martin, Kenneth Martin, Ida Bell (Steve) Williams, Willis (Demetrius) McCrae, Annette (Cecil) Reed; sisters-in-law, Yoletta, Linda, and Ranesa; brother-in-law; Eddie McCrae; aunts, Betty Nelson and Doretha Dasher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 2, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Final arrangements were entrusted to Royal Funeral Home, Inc., Jesup.
