Juanita Harvey James

Juanita Harvey James aka”Nita” as she was known by her family and close friends was born on November 05, 1938 in Chauncey, GA to the late Sylvester and Rosa Mae Thomas-James, Sr.  

Juanita was educated in the public school system of Charlton County.  She was a member of Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church and worked as a custodian for Trusting Hands on the Navy Base in Camden County. Other than working on the base, she spent her free time being a homemaker and she enjoyed spending time with family, reading the Bible, and praising the Lord.

Juanita passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by both parents, Sylvester Harvey, Sr. and Rosa Mae Thomas-Harvey; her husband, Mizell James, Sr.; her brothers, Sylvester Harvey, Jr., Daniel Harvey, and Ernest Harvey, Sr.; and her close friend, Margaret Pollock-Tomlinson.

Those left to cherish her memories, her loving children, Lydell (Sheila) James, Vernon James, Gino (Carolyn) James, and Rose James, all of Folkston, and Mizell (Pearl) James, Jr., St. Marys; seven grandchildren, Amethyst, Lydell, Jr., India, Courtney, Trina, Sarah, and Belinda; her step-children, Melissa (Reggie) Brown, Atlanta, GA, Lois Johnson, Pearl (Eddie James) Cole, Jessie (Barbara) James, and Wilbur James all of Grand Bay, AL; her close friends, Lillie Dell (Vice) Jordan, Georgia Medlock, Leola (Roosevelt) Baker, Irene (Willie) Duncan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will not be a viewing/visitation.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Folkston.
