James Raye Tyson

Mr. James Raye Tyson, age 70, of Woodbine, passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at UF Health in Jacksonville.

Mr. Tyson was born on June 11, 1949 in Atmore, AL to the late Thomas and Francis Tyson.

Mr. Tyson was a resident of Camden County for over 30 years. He worked for 17 of those years at Gilman Paper Company. After he retired, he enjoyed spending his time in the garden, and out fishing and shrimping. Mr. Tyson was an active member of the local VFW and of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in St. Marys. 

Mr. Tyson is survived by his wife, Luciona Tyson, of Deland, FL; his son, James Shelton Tyson, of AL; his sister, Dottie Ann Davis, of FL; his brother, Robert Tyson, of AL; and his grandchildren, Caleb Tyson and Grace Tyson, of AL. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the local VFW-8385 in Kingsland at (912) 729-7933, the Eagles FOE-4379 in St. Marys at (912) 882-5335, or Bachlott Cemetery, contact Demarus Johns (912) 496-7961, in Mr. Tyson’s name. 

A graveside service for Mr. Tyson was held Friday, October 4 at Bachlott Cemetery in Nahunta. 

Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, was entrusted with Mr. Tyson’s arrangements.
