Dorothy “Dottie” Crawford Billings, age 67, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on January 3, 2023, unexpectedly after a brief illness.  She was born in Victorville, California on November 11, 1955, to her loving parents, Vilas Eugene “Gene” Crawford and Carolyn “Sue” Alexander Crawford.  

Dottie was raised in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Burbank High School.  She attended San Antonio College where she earned her Associates of Applied Science Degree.  Dottie worked for a law firm in Texas for a few years until moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1988.  Dottie enjoyed a long successful career as an office manager and litigation paralegal for Ossi & Najem Law Firm in Jacksonville where she proudly served for 35 years.  Dottie was also a licensed mortgage broker for Childers Commercial Properties.  Dottie was so passionate about her work.  She was a devoted and trusted employee that was respected by all.  

When not working, she enjoyed watching College and NFL football.  She also loved family gatherings, fishing, trips to Biloxi, MS, dog and horse racing.  Dottie was a true treasure to so many, was greatly loved and will be forever missed.  

Dottie was preceded in death by her father, Gene Crawford and bonus son, Shane.

Dottie is survived by her mother, Sue Crawford of Moniac, GA; sisters, Cindy (David) Mireles, Barbara (Karen) Crawford, Sandra (Alan) Williams all of Jacksonville, FL; nephews, Christopher Smith, David (Chloe) Mireles, Jr., Winston (Jesse) Williams; niece, Whitney (Drew) Williams; great nephew, Tyler; great nieces, Mackenzie, Madelyn, Maybre, and Autumn; uncle, Ed (Jo) Alexander; aunt, Gencie Rewis; longtime companion, Mike Berry; bonus children, Shannon and Susie; many cousins, friends and colleagues, especially her Ossi & Najem family.

A Celebration of Dottie’s Life was held on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Ferreira Funeral Services Chaffee Road Chapel with Pastor Matt Rouse officiating.  Interment followed at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.  The family received friends on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the funeral home. 

Arrangements were under the care and direction of Ferreira Funeral Services, Jacksonville, FL.  Visit to sign the family’s guest book.
