David Larry Browning, Sr.

David Larry Browning, Sr., 74, of Folkston, passed away Monday, November 9 , 2020 in Jacksonville, FL.  He was born July 1, 1946 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Barney Harold Browning, Sr. and Margaret Francis David Browning.  He worked with his father in the family business, Barney Browning & Sons Fuel Oil Company.  He was the Founder and Owner of Browning Chassis and Co-Owner of Jax Raceway.  He had a passion for horses and stock car racing.  He was the former President and Vice-President of Bit-N-Spur Saddle Club and the current President of the Charlton County Saddle Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Browning, Sr. and James Frederick Browning.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Browning; his children, David (Stephanie) Browning, Bonnie (Dennis, Sr.) Schoenfeld, Margie (Jeff) Flight, and Lisa Browning; two brothers, Barney Harold Browning, Jr. and Archie Browning; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Thursday, November 12 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home.  Funeral services were held Friday, November 13 at Sand Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Trent Long officiating.  Burial followed in Racepond Cemetery at Sand Hill Baptist Church.  Pallbearers were Dennis Shoenfeld, Jr., Jeffery Flight, Jr., Billy Fraser, Michael Schoenfeld, Tyler Browning and Dylan Browning.  Gage Browning and John Browning will serve as Jr. Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sand Hill Baptist Church, 10380 US Highway 1, Folkston, Georgia 31537 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O.  Box 22478, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.
