Claretha  Noble-Taylor

Claretha Noble-Taylor, 81, of Folkston, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Life Care Center of Hilliard. She was born on October 8, 1938 to the late, Sterling and Effie Boyd-Noble in Newell, GA. 

Claretha was educated in the public schools of Charlton County and grew up as a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church. She worked many years in housekeeping at Charlton County Hospital and some private sitting for the Mizells. “Ms. Claretha” as so many people in the community knew her for the kind, loving, nuturing person that she was. She cared for both of parents until their demise, her daughter, Elizabeth, and raised her grandchildren, who many times refer to her as “moma”. She was truly a caretaker of her family and will always be remembered for all of kind deeds. Ms. Claretha enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family. 

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Willie B. Taylor; her daughter, Deborah Lynn Taylor-Scott; her sisters, Josephine Mitchell and Juanita Thomas; and her brother, Lawrence “Bo Pete” Noble.

Those left to cherish her memories, her sons, Eld. Alvin Glynn Taylor, Waycross and a stepson, Collaus (Brenda) Taylor of Waycross; her daughter, Elizabeth Taylor, Hilliard; her sisters, Christine Harris, Lakeland, FL, Ethel Whitfield, Jacksonville, and Earnestine Noble of Vero Beach, FL; two brothers, Wallace and Howard Noble, both of Folkston; son in-law, Louis V. Scott, Sr., Chesapeake, VA; her loving grandchildren, Shaunda Taylor, Gregory Taylor, Keisha Taylor, Louis Valentino Scott, Jr. “T.J.”, and Carlos Smith; her great-grandchildren, Malik Thompson, Nyzik Paige, Giselle Smith, MacKenzie, Morgan and Macie Musiwa and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.        

There will not be a wake/visitation.  Remains will lie in state one hour prior to services on Sunday.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 116 6th St., Folkston. Interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Folkston.

Final arrangements entrusted to Royal Funeral Home, Inc., Jesup.
