First Baptist Church of St. George held its annual Independence Day celebration, Thursday, July 4 in their Family Life Building. Local residents were treated to hot dogs, hamburgers, desserts, and a message from James Conner, pastor of New Life Baptist Church. Door prizes were given to lucky winners and children were given their own special prizes. A golfcart train (pictured above), a bouncy castle, and water balloons were on hand for the little attendees. Also visiting the event were Congressman Buddy Carter, Senator Tyler Harper, and State Representative John Corbett, pictured below with Chief Deputy Clay Burnsed, County Administrator Hampton Raulerson, County Commissioner Jesse Crews, Field Representative for Congressman Carter Emmitt Nolan, and area pastors. The celebration was planned by Commissioner Crews with the help of many volunteers. For more photos of the day, see page 2.
