On February 27, Lieutenant Nicholas McDowell responded to Nixon-Jones Road in reference to a subject observed at the residence of another individual who had a protection order against him. The subject was observed to be within the 500-yard limit of the protection order and was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking.
On February 27 Deputy Colby Thompson was dispatched to the All Store n Lock in Homeland in reference to theft. The complainant stated that her unit had been broken into and the contents stolen. An investigation determined that the unit had been mistakenly cleaned out by the owners, and the property was returned.
On March 3, Captain Marty Crews observed a gray SUV travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 121. Capt. Crews activated his radar and determined that the vehicle was travelling 105 mph in a 55 mph zone. Capt. Crews conducted a traffic stop and ran the driver’s license through GCIC. The license came back as suspended. The subject was arrested and charged with speeding and driving while license suspended.
On March 6, Deputy Kurtis Ford was dispatched to Altman Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. The complainant stated that her boyfriend had pushed her, and she believed that her finger was broken. The complainant stated that she did not wish for charges to be pressed. Evidence was collected and this case was turned over to investigations.
On March 6, Sergeant Doug Popp responded to Maynor Drive in reference to a physical altercation that had already occurred. Sgt. Popp spoke with one of the subjects who stated that she had been in a fight. A video showed that a fight did occur, and that the subject had tried to walk away. Sgt. Popp then made contact with the second subject. While on scene at this location, the first subject arrived and stated that she was ready to fight again. Both parties were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and simple battery.
On March 6, Sergeant Sammie Hendrix observed a vehicle on Bowery Lane cross the centerline twice and the fog line once. Sgt. Hendrix made contact with Homeland PD Chief Brad Todd, who initiated a traffic stop. After making contact with the driver, Chief Todd discovered a packet of a crystal-like substance in one of his pockets. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The subject was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and failure to maintain lane.
On March 8, Deputy Colby Thompson observed a vehicle travelling 77 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 40. Deputy Thompson conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. Deputy Thompson noticed the smell of marijuana and requested assistance in order to search the vehicle. Deputy Ryan Andrews and Officer Clint Rhoden of Folkston PD both responded to assist. Deputy Thompson requested the driver exit the vehicle and take her two-year-old child with her. He also asked the passenger to step out of the vehicle. When asked if he had anything on him, the passenger said he had marijuana, which Deputy Thompson located in a pocket of the subject’s shorts. A search of the vehicle revealed another container of marijuana and a clear baggie containing ecstasy pills in the passenger door. The passenger was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug related objects, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
On March 9, Deputy Colby Thompson met with a subject at the Sheriff’s Office who stated that she never received a package, which her Amazon account was showing as delivered. The subject was advised to contact Fed Ex, the carrier that delivered the package.
