Sheriff's Dept seize drugs

On June 6, at approximately 6:35 p.m., Deputy Doug Popp was patrolling Dixie Lake Road when he observed a grey in-color Hyundai with an improper tag. Deputy Popp conducted a traffic stop to investigate the tag. The driver was identified as Cheryl Cobb. Deputy Popp conducted a free-air sniff on the vehicle that resulted in a positive alert. Search of the vehicle resulted in finding two pill bottles with cocaine inside them. Deputy Popp arrested Cobb, and she was charged with possession of cocaine and improper tag.

On June 6, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Deputy Doug Popp responded to a call on Mt. Caramel Street at a club in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, Deputy Popp made contact with complainants Levar Atwater and Antonio Hopkins. Both complainants stated Shavazz Lewis shot at them. Deputy Popp made contact with Shavazz Lewis who was on scene. Lewis denied shooting at the victims. Deputy Popp contacted Investigator Sgt. Sammie Hendrix for assistance. Through the investigation, officers located a handgun and two shell casings near Shavazz Lewis’ car. Deputy Popp conducted a free-air sniff of Shavazz Lewis’ car which resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located cocaine and marijuana packaged to sell. Officers also found a set of scales used for weighing the narcotics. Shavazz Lewis was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, possession of drug related object. Investigating officers were Deputy Doug Popp and Sgt. Sammie Hendrix.

On June 7, Deputy Wyatt Garvin responded to 701 Martin Luther King Drive in reference to a wanted suspect, Antonio Lewis, also known as (AKA) Egg Man, was believed to be at the residence. Antonio Lewis had two active warrants for fleeing and eluding police and driving while license was suspended from a previous incident. Once Deputy Garvin and officers from Folkston Police Department arrived, Antonio Lewis ran out the back door. After a foot chase, officers caught Antonio Lewis and located on his person, methamphetamines. Antonio Lewis was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute and obstruction of law enforcement.

On June 13, Charlton County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Department of Probation conducted a Fourth Amendment search at 347 Central Ave., the residence of Donna Johns. Also inside the residence was Cody Johns and Megen Plymel. During the search, officers located methamphetamines. Donna Johns, Cody Johns and Megen Plymel were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug related objects. Investigator Sgt. Sammie Hendrix was the investigating Officer.
