Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade

The Unified Alliance of Charlton County presents this year’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration: “The Urgency of Creating a Better Community.” The parade march will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17. The lineup will be at the Department of Family and Children Services building on Okefenokee Drive. The parade will go east on Main Street to the Courthouse and disband there. Local pastors will be the grand marshalls. The celebration will begin at noon, and it will be held at Chatham-Mobley Park on Mt. Carmel Street. The speaker is Pastor Terrance Pender. Masks are strongly encouraged, and participants are asked to follow CDC guidelines, such as social distancing six feet a part.
