Former Charlton County High School and University of Georgia standout, L.J. Talley saw one of his lifelong dreams come into being last Tuesday when the Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball Draft. Talley becomes the first Charlton County baseball player since Eric Lloyd to be drafted. Lloyd was taken in the 71st round in 1995 out of high school by the Seattle Mariners but opted to play college ball.

Talley was an All State performer for the Indians and was a key member of back-to-back state championship teams by the Indians.

He would then go on to become a four-year starter at Georgia and culminated his career by batting .332 with eight home runs and 41 RBI’s his senior season. Talley was a second team All-SEC selection and was named to the SEC All Defensive Team.

Once he signs a contract and passes a physical he will begin his professional career at one of the Blue Jays minor league teams.
