The Charlton County wrestling team sent four wrestlers to compete last weekend to the State Sectionals Tournament in Ocilla and three of them came away with berths in the State Finals to be held in Macon this week from February 13-16.
Senior Tommy Layden led the Indian charge with a third-place finish in the 195 lb. weight class while two freshmen, Craig Carlisle and Thomas Johnson also qualified showing the future remains bright for Indian wrestling. Carlisle finished fifth in the 160 lb. weight class and Johnson also placed fifth in the 106 lb. weight division. Senior William Hogg participated, but was unable to advance on, but finished with an outstanding season.
