The Folkston Police Department recently released the following motor vehicle crash reports for December 5 to December 25, 2019.
On December 5, a 2007 Kia Sportage driven by Amy Lynn Huggins, was stopped west on Love Street in front of Southeastern Bank. A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John William Harvey, was stopped in front of NAPA Auto Parts facing east. The Chevrolet Silverado attempted to make a U-turn onto Love Street. The Chevrolet Silverado struck the Kia Sportage on the driver’s side.
On December 6, a 2007 Freightliner Conventional driven by Terry Bernard Austin, was traveling east on Oakwood Street. The Freightliner struck a low hanging powerline that spans Oakwood Street causing the meter box and weatherhead to be torn from the residence of 400 First Street. The Freightliner left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
On December 14, a 2015 Kia Optima LX driven by Keianna Diane Milton, was parked at the Circle K on Martin Street. A 2001 Nissan Altima driven by Brian Christopher Johnson, was sitting stationary behind the Kia Optima while waiting on the drive through line. The Kia Optima backed into the driver’s side of the Nissan Altima. Minor damage was caused to the rear bumper of the Kia Optima. The Nissan Altima received minor damage to the rear/passenger side door on the driver’s side.
On December 23, a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Katherine Iona Melton, was stopped at the corner of the Solar Station parking lot attempting to turn onto Martin Street. A 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Lynne Wilber Barnhart, was parked in a parking space directly behind the Chevrolet Cruze. The Chevrolet Malibu began backing out and struck the Chevrolet Cruze in the driver’s side rear.
On December 25, a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by Alayasia Nianna Dasher, was traveling east on GA Hwy. 40. A deer attempted to cross GA Hwy. 40 from the north to south, in front of the Nissan Altima. The Nissan Altima struck the deer.
