The Folkston Police Department recently released the following motor vehicle crash reports for August 4 to August 27.
On August 4, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to the Harvey’s parking lot. Vehicle #1, a 2006 KIA Sportage, driven by Shannon Dewayne Guest, was parked facing south in a parking space at Harvey’s parking lot. Vehicle #2, a 2007 Honda Accord, driven by Skyler Roy Lloyd was parked facing north in a parking space at Harvey’s parking lot. Both Vehicle #1 and Vehicle #2 attempted to back from the parking spaces causing the vehicles to strike each other.
August 14, Officer James Murray was dispatched to Sixth Street. Vehicle #1, a 2006 Pontiac Vibe, driven by Kelly Noelle Klepser, was in the grass in front of Apt. 390, at the Housing Authority. Vehicle #1 was turning left and struck the handrail and concrete at Apt. 390. The driver left the scene and was later arrested and charged. The driver stated that the handicap hand controls got stuck.
August 15, Officer James Murray was dispatched to Universal Forest Products. Vehicle #2, a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was parked in the Universal Forest Products parking lot. Vehicle #1, a 1994 Ford Econoline Van, driven by William Keith Duke, was backing into the parking spot beside Vehicle #2. Vehicle #1 misjudged clearance and struck Vehicle #2.
August 16, Officer Gary Rhoden was dispatched to Hwy 252 at its intersection with Lloyd Lane. Vehicle #1, a 2013 Chevy Cruze, driven by Cameron Lee Lindsey, was traveling east on GA 252. As vehicle #1 passed Lloyd Lane it collided with a deer in the roadway.
August 18, Officer Gary Rhoden was dispatched to GA Hwy. 4 at its intersection with Indian Trail. Vehicle #1, a 2014 Toyota Sierra, driven by John C. Boatright, was traveling west on Indian Trail and stopped at the stop sign. Vehicle #2, a 1998 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Austin Reid Stafford, was traveling north in the fast lane. Vehicle #1 failed to yield to Vehicle #2 striking Vehicle #2 in the side.
August 22, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to GA Hwy. 121. Vehicle #1, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Jason E. Ackerman, was stopped on GA Hwy. 121 facing south at its intersection with Main Street. Vehicle #2, a 2014 Nissan Altima, driven by Kayla Christine Bullard, was stopped behind Vehicle #1. Vehicle #1 attempted to back up. Vehicle #1 struck Vehicle #2. Driver #1 advised that he believed he was too far into the intersection, which is the reason he attempted to back Vehicle #1.
August 27, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to Bowery Lane at the intersection with John Harper Avenue. Vehicle #1, a 2005 Dodge Stratus, driven by Dorothy Elaine C. Reed, was traveling east on Bowery Lane. Vehicle#1 crossed into the westbound lane, struck the curb at the corner of John Harper Avenue, continued eastward, struck a Windstream telephone wire box. Continued traveling east onto the front lawn at 697 Bowery Lane and struck a pine tree stopping Vehicle #1.
