The Folkston Police Department recently released the April motor vehicle crash reports.
On March 27, a semi-truck with a Heartland trailer and a 2001 Hyundai Elantra were traveling north on GA Highway 4. The Elantra was in the right lane and the semi-truck in the left lane. The semi-truck attempted to change lanes and struck the Elantra in the rear door. The semi-truck did not stop and left the scene.
On March 30, in the Pizza Hut parking lot a 2017 KIA UT was facing south and started backing out of the parking space. A 2002 GMC Sierra was facing north and started backing out after the KIA UT had already established lane of travel. The GMC Sierra struck the KIA UT in the driver’s rear side.
On April 3, a 2012 Hyundai Sonata was traveling east on GA Highway 252 east of Reynolds Road. The Sonata left the roadway, sliding on the dirt before overturning and coming to a rest. The driver of the Sonata stated that he lost control of the vehicle.
On April 5, a 2006 Dodge Caravan was parked in the Okefenokee Restaurant parking lot, facing south. A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 was parked in the parking lot facing north. The Silverado began backing in the wrong direction and struck the Caravan in the driver’s side taillight.
On April 5, a 2005 Ford F150 was east bound on Main Street approaching the intersection of Main Street and GA Highway 121. A 2013 Buick Century was north bound on GA Highway 121 approaching the intersection of GA Highway 121 and Main Street. The F150 failed to yield to the Century, striking the Century in the driver’s door area.
On April 6, a 2013 Nissan Maxima was stopped at the stop sign on Indian Trail and GA Highway 4. A 2014 Jeep Wrangler was traveling north on GA Highway 4, nearing the intersection of Indian Trail. The Maxima failed to yield and began to cross the northbound lanes of GA Highway 4. The Wrangler struck the Maxima.
On April 7, a 2006 Chevrolet Express was traveling east on Love Street. A 2013 GMC Acadia was traveling north on GA Highway 4. The Acadia failed to stop for the red light and struck the Express.
On April 8, a 2002 KIA Spectra was parked in the parking space facing south in the RiteAid parking lot. A 2004 Hyundai Sonata was parked in a parking space facing south, unoccupied next to the Spectra. The Spectra attempted to back from the parking space while turning east in reverse. The Spectra stuck the Sonata.
On April 22, a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander was parked in a parking space at D. Ray James Prison unoccupied. A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was backing and struck the Outlander in the driver’s side rear door.
On April 23, a 2013 Fleetwood Bounder 36E was traveling south on Third Street. A 2011 Chevrolet Cruz was being towed by the Fleetwood Bounder 36E. The Fleetwood Bounder attempted to turn left onto GA Highway 40. The driver’s side front tire of the Cruz struck the curbing at the corner of Third Street and GA Highway 40, causing damage to the tow assembly connecting the Fleetwood Bounder and the Cruz, as well as puncturing the Cruz’s tire. The Cruz became separated from the Fleetwood Bounder. The Fleetwood Bounder slowed it’s movement. The Cruz struck the Fleetwood Bounder.
On April 24, a 2007 Ford Expedition and 2014 Buick Lacrosse were traveling north on GA 4 Highway 121. The Lacrosse stopped to make a left turn on to Cedar Ridge Road. The Expedition failed to stop for the Lacrosse and struck the Lacrosse in the rear.
On April 29, a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling south on GA Highway 4. A 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS was traveling west on Martin Street. A 2012 Chevrolet K250 was stopped at the red light facing east on Martin Street. The Suburban ran the red light, striking the Monte Carlo in the passenger door area, pushing the Monte Carlo into the front driver’s bumper and fender of the Chevrolet K250. The Suburban fled the scene.
