The Folkston Police Department recently released the following traffic incident reports for July 5 through July 29.

On July 5, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to McDonald’s parking lot on Martin Street.  Vehicle #1, a 2009 Ford Taurus, driven by Shawnesse Jackson, was stopped in line at the McDonald’s drive-through, facing south. Vehicle #2, a 2004 Cadillac CTS, driven by Cecil Lee Reed, was stopped facing west for the drive-through line. Vehicle #1 attempted to backup. Vehicle #1 struck Vehicle #2.

July 5, Officer Jason Rifenbark was also dispatched to Bay Street.  Vehicle #1, a 2001 GMC Yukon, driven by Precious Laniya Gordon, was stopped at the stop sign on Bay Street at its intersection with GA Hwy. #4, facing east. Vehicle #2, a 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by Charles David Godwin, was stopped behind Vehicle #1. Vehicle #1 attempted to back up.  Vehicle #1 struck Vehicle #2. The driver of Vehicle #1 was a juvenile and was charged with no license.  The parent of Driver #1 was issued a citation for permitting an unauthorized minor to drive.

July 6, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to the Circle K on Martin Street. Vehicle #1, a 2007 Mercedes Benz S550, driven by Artie Carol Smith, was attempting to park in a parking space at the Circle K, facing east.  Vehicle #1 struck the curb with the front bumper, causing damage to the bumper. 

July 10, Officer Michael Maddox was dispatch to Main Street.  Vehicle #1, a 2016 Lexus driven by Jasmine Anita Gaskin, was traveling west on Main Street, passing Elizabeth Street.  Vehicle #1 left the roadway striking an oak tree.  Vehicle #1 spun around before coming to rest.  Vehicle #1 sustained severe damage.  The driver, Gaskin, advised that she fell asleep.

July 12, Officer James Murray was dispatched to Subway. Vehicle #1, a 2018 Toyota Camry, driven by Michael David Batten, was parking in a parking spot at Subway.  Vehicle #1 pulled across the parking spot stop.  The parking stop had a piece of metal bar sticking out above the parking stop. The metal bar got caught on the bumper and under carriage of the car and caused damage to both the car stop and Vehicle #1.

July 19, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to GA Hwy. #4 and Bowery Lane where Vehicle #1, a 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Robert L. Mincey had stopped at the stop sign facing west on Homeland Park Road.  Vehicle #2, a 2000 Freightliner Tractor/Trailer, driven by Robert Lewis Dasher was traveling southbound on GA Hwy. #4. Vehicle #1 attempted to cross the southbound lane of GA Hwy. #4 toward Bowery Lane as Vehicle #2 was passing Bowery Lane.  Vehicle #1 struck Vehicle #2.

On July 21, Officer James Murray was dispatched to Martin Street, where Vehicle #2, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, was parked in the McDonald’s parking lot.  Vehicle #1, a 2013 GMC Sierra, driven by Sherry Ann Sutherland, was backing out of a parking spot behind Vehicle #2.  Vehicle #1 failed to see and struck Vehicle #2 in the rear.

Only July 25, Officer Jason Rifenbark was dispatched to Main Street.  Vehicle #1, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Sirvastin Bernard Austin, was parked in a parking space on Main Street facing south, in front of Whistlin’ Dixie’s Restaurant.  Vehicle #2, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, was parked next to Vehicle #1, unoccupied and to Vehicle #1’s passenger side, facing south.  Vehicle #1 attempted to back out from the parking space.  Vehicle #1 struck Vehicle #2.

July 29, Officer Gary Rhoden was dispatched to Third Street. Vehicle #1, a 2018 Dodge Charger, driven by Jennifer Chantelle Hamilton, was traveling north on Third Street.  Vehicle#1 struck a manhole cover that was broke positioning upward.
